Ch 3 exec admits axing soap

A TV Channel 3 executive has owned up to pulling the last three episodes of a political soap opera off the air.

Somrak Narongwichai, acting managing director of TV Channel 3, said he was responsible for the decision to pull the episodes of Nua Mek 2 off the air to prevent possible defamation lawsuits.

Mr Somrak was giving evidence yesterday before the House committee on political, communication and public participation development.

What else do you expect in a country where most of the tv channels are still controlled by militaries or bureaucrats?

Now who could possibly be the one who would file defamation lawsuits against this TV soap? And will we see any comments on freedom of speech etc. from the alien Thaksin fanatics?
