PM told to muzzle her foreign minister

Prime Minster Yingluck Shinawatra should muzzle her foreign minister to stop him damaging Thai-Cambodian relations, Democrat spokesman Chavanond Intarakomalyasut says.

He said yesterday Surapong Tovichakchaikul's remarks about the Preah Vihear temple row are harming the country's interests. Mr Surapong's actions also ran contrary to Ms Yingluck's call for all parties to...

I have been observing the thumb up and thumb figures for the last 30 minutes. Bingo, like what I expected, a sudden surge in certain direction.

D20 I don't think I changed the subject or remained silent. My point is that I think it's ironic that the Dems want to muzzle the current FM in order to avoid damaging Thai-Cambodian relations when the FM they had when they were in power (Kasit) did much more damage to this relationship. So much damage in fact that there was a small border war going on where soldiers and civilians on both sides were being killed. To be fair it wasn't entirely Kasit's fault but his actions deserve some blame.

D18 : LOL! How predictable! Just as I wrote in D16,the last sentence..."They'll just change subject or remain silent when confronted with facts and touch questions".

bikeme #17 - I realized that long ago. That was why I told you - "Twisting of events that took place do not change the truth." BTW, I don't have "the Little Red Book of Thaksin." Do you have a copy? Where to get them? I hope when you finally open your eyes to the world around you, images of Thaksin haunting you do not exist in your world.

D16 My apologies. You are quite correct - I was too harsh on Kasit with saying he set Thai diplomacy back 50 years. Based upon historical events 30 years is much more accurate. One of the purposes of diplomacy is to avoid armed conflict which wasn't the case when Kasit was FM. I suppose calling the leader of Cambodia a "thug" and saying that he'll use Hun Sen's blood to wash his feet didn't help. Perhaps he just spent too much time traveling around the world explaining why an unpopular and unelected government should be in power and defending the government's human rights abuses?

D14 Boontong - You are absolutely correct, twisting the events does NOT change the truth. Someday you may finally realize this when you stop reading the Little Red Book of Thaksin and open your eyes to the world around you.

D13 : If Kasit were able to set back diplomatic relations by 50 years, that would be the days before Pol Pot and his subsequent dictatorship of his devoted follower,Hun Sen. How is that bad?

And what kind of decency are you talking about,if "good" relations are important with a genocidal dictatorship that continuously display it's hostile intentions towards Thailand?

D12,Khun Bikeme : It's a complete waste of time and effort to try and reason with this kind of red herd-mentality. They'll just change subject or remain silent when confronted with facts and touch questions.

Surapong is just a puppet and he will do and say whatever the fugitive orders him to do.

D11: Yes, that's him. Kasit set Thai diplomacy back 50 years and human decency back further than that.
