PM says Skype story baseless

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra Thursday brushed aside a New York Times report which claimed her elder brother Thaksin Shinawatra was running the country via Skype.

The report said most key decisions made during her time in office were made by the former prime minister, who lives in self-imposed exile abroad.

Our respected PM says that no mobile phones are allowed during on-going cabinet meetings but did not confirm that no internet connection is banned either ???

What the P.M. saying might be true and correct; no smart-phones on the table. However, I always see computer screens in front of the participants when they are having a meeting. They might be linked through internet and Skype uses internet and no telephone signals...so? Yes, she is telling the truth...some sort of...

"The Dems" slogan is "If you think it (about the PT or Thaksin) it must be true.

So accuse them of it and tie up the courts at the government expense.

Opps. a news story from 2011.

"Thaksin discussed on skype with Puea Thai members of cabinet the government's policies and related issues on Wednesday.

The former premier, joined the special cabinet meeting, chaired by his sister, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, at the headquarters of the ruling party on New Petchburi Road for about half an hour.

Thaksin was skyping with the 30 Puea Thai cabinet members to make inquiries, remarks and suggestions about the government's declared policies and difficulties implementing them.

Seated at the head of the table, Yingluck did the listening while her brother did the talking.

Regardless if Thaksin is advising or not, it is not possible to deny the PM is a strong advocate of democracy who’s interest is primarily in moving the country forward to benefit Thai people. The majority of Thai people are supporting the PM because of the work she is doing. I do believe this support will continue and grow as her efforts continue to grow.

I wonder why Yingluck even tries to convince anyone that she is in charge. Maybe people voted only for her because they knew that Yingluck is Thaksin’s clone and that he will make the decisions. And many other people did not vote for her because they knew that Yingluck is Thaksin’s clone and that he will make the decisions.
How many people actually voted for Yingluck and thought they would be governed by Yingluck? The best I can say about her is that it seems like many Thais are proud to have a pretty PM. But I never heard anybody saying that they have a competent or smart PM…

djay #16 - The leader of PTP of that time clarified that it was a party meeting not a cabinet meeting. PM YS is not the executive of the party. She is the best person to be PM from the party.

"She could not stop people from expressing their opinions, but she wanted the criticism to be fair."

In post-coup, 'divided' Thailand... good luck on this!

I am pleased that she seems to be successfully continuing her elected office w/out more coup threats. She has proven to be more competant than most thought. Thailand needs stability, not instability if it is to grow democratically.
