2 candidates ask EC to ban opinion polls

Two independent candidates running for Bangkok governor have asked the Election Commission to ban opinion polls, saying they are misleading voters.

Krit Suriyapol, candidate No.20, said the EC should prohibit pollsters from releasing poll results gauging candidates' popularity.

The surveys tended to increase the popularity of certain candidates, especially the favourites backed by the major parties, he said.

The polls will seek to favour those who ordered and paid for them. Who needs polls anyway? Make up your own mind.

How reliable are the reported opinion polls? Why there is such discrepancy between Abac poll, Suan Dusit, Nida and Bangkok polls? Were the polls taken from certain regions of Bangkok, such as north, south, east or west? Age groups, such as how many were taken from young adults, middle ages or senior citizens? Income groups, low, middle or high? From Abac poll, why no undecided opinion counted?
