Suthep slaps Tarit with libel suit

Mr Suthep, who oversaw the Royal Thai Police during the Democrat administration, insisted that neither he nor former premier Abhisit Vejjajiva had any knowledge of a letter from potential bidders opposing the Royal Thai Police plan to centralise the bidding process for 396 police stations nationwide.

Ah, Pengdith's detractors are starting to come out of the woodwork. Where were they in 2010? But that is just half the hypocrisy. This case is about corruption by a high level government official? Where are all those who opposed corruption by the former Thai Rak Thai government? Isn't corruption by someone whose initials are ST just as criminal as corruption by someone whose initials are TS?

Pure political theatre, the DSI has become a parody of itself, it's difficult to say who's action we should take less seriously, Tarit or Suthep. It would be better for all if both gracefully bowed out, they've made enough of a laughing stock of themselves and their allies.

Democrat Special Investigation (DSI) ist just doing its job as it is ordered from the government. No independent investigation is possible because the gov. has direct control over the DSI, Police and Attorney Genereal.
The separation of powers ( executive, legislature, judiciary ) does not exist in Thailand.

Boontong and Avegetable - As usual you have leapt to the conclusion that when one of Thaksin's lapdogs barks, it is the truth.

Tarit has a long history of persecuting two men (and no-one else) despite lacking sufficient evidence to get a conviction ('premeditated murder' anyone? lol).

So before you start predicting 'numbered days' (oops too late), maybe you'd better see if a charge is even laid.

The truth will prevail at the end. Your days are numbered K. Suthep.

Discussion 50...." just doing his job.." ?? For who ?? The people of Thailand or the far away fugitive????

Hard to believe the PT has no knowledge of the so call fishy bids when it occurred the previous years, especially when the majority of the police force backs the PTP. What were the PTP doing? guess they were busy out on the streets rounding up protesters for their big rallies? Not saying Suthep is innocent, all government procurements are full with corruption.

Compared to the fugitive and his cronies, Khun Suthep is an angel.

Each side of the political divide is accusing and revealing the corruption of the other side. This is good: its a check on both sides. The more naming and shaming we see, the more reluctant Thai politicians will be about engaging in this sort of shenanigans. This shows a maturing of Thai politics. The danger is that electorate becomes overly cynical and those with the guns use "corruption" to seize control. Realise that those with the guns are equally, if not more, corrupt.
