Sereepisuth aims to rid City Hall of political influence

Bangkok governor candidate Sereepisuth Temeeyaves says one of his key aims is to free the city administration from political influence.

Pol Gen Sereepisuth pointed out that the purpose of the Bangkok governor election when it was created with the passing of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Act in 1985 was to separate the capital's governor and City Hall from the national administration.

    This approach will attract some who have been influenced by the "Demonize Politicians' campaign, pursued by those who cannot win elections. It is a sport to malign lawyers and politicians. In Thailand, this has risen beyond benign impulses. Politicians are systemically derided by some, in order to malign Electoral Democracy. These people seek to gain Political power via non-electoral means. Case-in-point - Coup

    Pol Gen Sereepisuth said as a former national police chief, he was highly experienced in management, which will benefit Bangkok residents greatly.
