Two Bangkok governor candidates said they would cycle to work at City Hall every day if they win the upcoming election.

The remarks came in an election debate yesterday that focused on developing a network of bike lanes in the city.

Independent candidate Suharit Siamwalla and the Pheu Thai Party's Pongsapat Pongcharoen promised to cycle to City Hall every day if they won the election.

A big improvement in safety for cyclists & other road users would be reg's (enforced of course) on the placement of those damned election posters. Apart from the examples which we all have encountered where they block footpaths forcing pedestrians into the road, there are also long stretches of road with so many posters that they completely block drivers' views of kerbs and junctions preventing emerging vehicles from seeing and being seen as well as forcing pedestrians to step out to cross or hail buses/taxis.
Posters need to be banned within a reasonable distance of junctions & below a certain height. Cont...

I give them a maximum of one week, if that, then the "exigencies of the job" will "force" them to use their limos.
