Somsak in 'illegal' Chinese adviser hire row

A Democrat Party lawmaker yesterday accused House Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont of unlawfully appointing a Chinese national as an adviser.

Democrat list MP, Watchara Phetthong, told reporters at parliament yesterday that Mr Somsak's appointment of Wang Hong Pin, from China, as an honorary adviser on Chinese affairs, raised legal questions.

Mr Watchara claimed Mr Somsak's Chinese adviser was also using a rubber stamp with the title "Chinese Affairs Division," which, to his knowledge, does not exist.

I don't care about the nationality of a government advisor, but if he is honourary, why is a salary being drawn? Honourary positions are just that, a service provided pro-bono, for the honour of doing so, not for a salary.

More xenophobic nonsense from Thailand. An adviser is just that and if he knows more about China than Thai advisers which he probably does, then his advice is probably better. Reminds me of the PT politicos who think Aphisit is British. Maybe these xenophobes need reminding that a certain VVIP in Thailand was born in the USA and brought up in Switzerland. That would hopefully shut them up!

The Dems are out of touch with reality as usual. Their lies scare off more voters than they attract. PT will win tomorrow as this Dem party proves who not to trust.

"He said if (Democrat List MP) Mr Watchara had evidence to back his claims that he violated parliamentary regulations, then he should produce it."
Probably Watchara could produce a photo of the adviser, just like last time the photo of a beautiful model.

"He said if (Democrat List MP) Mr Watchara had evidence to back his claims that he violated parliamentary regulations, then he should produce it." They never have the evidence just the smears.
