EC needs 30 days to endorse vote

The Election Commission (EC) says it will need 30 days to officially endorse MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra as the winner of the Bangkok governor's election.

EC secretary-general Puchong Nutrawong said on Wednesday the EC had to provide time, and then to accept and investigate any complaints or allegations concerning election law offences.

The agency is currently probing three alleged violations of section 57 of the Local Election Act. One of the complaints involves a candidate who many have posted an online attack that a rival was involved in the red shirts' arson attacks in the 2010 political violence.

The 30-day investigation period would allow the Bangkok Election Commission to conclude its investigations, Mr Puchong said.
