Red shirt rallies set for April 10

Red shirt rallies set for April 10

The red shirts' United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) on Wednesday announced it will organise events to mark the third anniversary of Bangkok clashes on April 10 and May 19, 2010.

UDD chair Tida Tawornseth said the red shirts will hold a religious service at the Democracy Monument near Satri Witthya School on Ratchadamnoen Avenue in the morning of April 10. There will be a performance in memory of the bloody event in the afternoon and a political meeting in the evening with a Hyde Park theme.

Similar activities including a photo exhibition will be held on May 19 at the Ratchaprasong intersection.

Mrs Tida said the event may affect businesses in the area and ask business owners and vendors to accept her apology in advance. She also asked them not to blame the red shirts and instead blame former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and his former deputy Suthep Thaugsuban who ordered the crackdown on the UDD demonstrators.
