Kasem denies quitting post to make way for Yaowapa

Chiang Mai MP Kasem Nimmonrat resigned from his post due to personal health concerns and not to make room for Yaowapa Wongsawat, Thaksin Shinawatra's younger sister, the Pheu Thai Party says.

Mr Kasem has health problems and wants to focus on local politics rather than national politics, Pheu Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit said.

Mr Kasem wants to contest the Chiang Mai provincial administrative organisation poll, eying the post of PAO deputy chairman.

D41 Quote-"There is plenty of evidence of the party acting as a proxy".
Yes there is, and nobody is hiding it.
Who are the Democrat/Abhisit proxies?....Nobody knows.
    A slight difference.

Who is the convicted on the run fugitive?
I will give you two clues.
    1 None of the above.
    2 He lives in Dubai.

musashi - All but one of your quoted dynasties is of 2 people not a half dozen or so in a single government. If you really wanted to stretch it you could have pointed out the Kennedy family but even that fell short of this one.

Contrarian - I don't know where Justin would be without being a Trudeau and neither do I know where Pierre would have been without being a Trudeau. The 'no really left' was a double entendre both indicating his politics and also the fact that he actually did quit when he said so, unlike others after they had said so. I'm not in Canada.

    Yup!
Gotta justify the coup, and he is the electoral threat to the unelectables!
    Gotta go after that one.

@blobber #41: I think Contrarian does not have to be a sexist when he writes about Yingluck’s appearances. About which other abilities of her should he write? Maybe about her independence, her knowledge or her experience. Think again, there is a reason why he only talks about her looks.

Contraian I'd also like to point out it shows what an old sexist you are. A woman's abilities or qualifications are not important. All that matters is her looks. Seems some people are still stuck in the dark ages.

Furthermore, I doubt they will remove Yingluck until PT push the envelope too far, as a last resort. There is plenty of evidence of the party acting as a proxy. But it's a last resort (when the charter is re-written), since Yingluck is a pretty face, much loved, it would backfire. She cools the political temperature, it's Thaksin they are trying to go after.

In an ordinary democracy Yaowapa is free to run, it is afterall her family's home town and she's effected a lot of change there, certainly she would win easily. However, among the most powerful figures in the ruling party are: Thaksin Shinawatra, Yingluck Shinawatra, Yaowapa Wongsawat (nee Shinawatra) and Potjaman Damapong (nee Shinawatra). Former Prime Minister was Somchai Wongsawat. Former Defence minister was a Shinawatra. Even the present FM is a cousin. So, there's your answer why everyone is getting uppity. No matter, behind the scenes this unelected women is a power 'invisible hand'.

Discussion 21 has said exactly what most of the posters are probably thinking, but which we did not think we would be able to post.
