Business blasts May 19 reds' rally

- +

Business operators in the Ratchaprasong area asked police on Wednesday to step up rally management to prevent political gatherings that hurt sales, four days before masses of red shirts are to descend on the commercial and shopping district to mark the third anniversary of the Bangkok clashes of May 19, 2010.

About 30 representatives of vendors, business operators and employees in the Ratchaprasong shopping district made the request at a meeting with deputy metropolitan police chief Parinya Chansuriya.

Chai Srivikorn, president of the Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association, said the local businesses never had been happy with the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) because the 2010 protests and violence had badly hit their businesses.
