Police deployed at PM's house

A large number of police have been deployed in Soi Yothinpattani 3 on Navamin-Ramintra road in Bueng Kum district, where Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra lives, in the wake of the planned rally by the Thai Patriots Network led by Chaiwat Sinsuwong, reports said.

The group on Saturday announced it would rally on Sunday in front of Ms Yingluck's house in Soi Yothinpattana 3 to submit a letter demanding the government not accept the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling on the Thai-Cambodian territorial dispute over the Preah Vihear ruins.

Police have been deployed from the mouth of the soi to the prime minister's house. Checkpoints have been set up.

However, the soi has not been closed to traffic.

The police are from the Metropolitian Police Division 4, Lat Phrao police station, Region 1 Border Patrol Police headquarters and Region 4 and 4 Provincial Police bureaus.

Suporn Atthawong, the prime minister's deputy secretary-general, said that if the group wants to submit a letter to the prime minister it could do so at the Lat Phrao district office, not at the prime minister's house.

The group would not be allowed to move beyond the mouth of Soi Yothinpattana 3, he said.
