Protesters keep careful eye on security

Supporters of the anti-government People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) on Sunday occupied the area outside City Hall’s Public Works Department, which stores more than 2,000 concrete barriers, to check to see if the barriers were taken to Government House.

PDRC co-leader Tinnakorn On-pratum led about 200 volunteers from Democracy Monument, one of the group’s three main rally sites, in a convoy of pickup trucks to the department’s Construction and Restoration Centre 6 in the Pracha Niwet area.

They were split into four groups and gathered near the centre’s entrance-exit routes to monitor police officers if they tried to transport more barriers from there to secure Government House, where the protesters will converge during the mass rally tomorrow.

Mr Tinnakorn confirmed the group did not block the entrance-exit gates of the centre and all roads in the area were still passable for vehicles.

He called on police officers to perform their duties fairly and abort their attempt to intercept the protesters.
