The anti-government People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) on Monday demanded that interim Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her cabinet ministers step down to pave way for the establishment of a "people's council".
PDRC co-leader Sathit Wongnongtoey said the goal of the protest is not only to get the prime minister to dissolve the House of Representatives, because Ms Yingluck and her cabinet would then still serve as the interim government.
They demanded their resignation so a "people's council" could govern in the interim.
Protesters marching to Government House cheered and blew their whistles when Ms Yingluck announced the House dissolution on television on Monday morning, and shouted "Yingluck get out!".
