TV anchor's home attacked

The Bangkok home of a Blue Sky TV channel anchor and protest moderator was hit with a Molotov cocktail late on Monday night.

The attack took place at the house of Theema "Jud" Kanjanapairin, 31, in Bang Kradi Soi 1 in Samae Dam of Bang Khunthian district, police said.

Theema is a moderator at the People's Democratic Reform Committee's rally stage at Ratchadamnoen Avenue and a TV anchor for Blue Sky, the Democrat Party's mouthpiece channel.

Traces of fire damage were found at the house gate, a rubbish bin and the side of a fish pond.

Police also discovered broken beer bottles and kerosene-soaked clothes at the scene.

No one was hurt in the attack.

Theema said his sister Thassaneewan, 40, alerted him about midnight that molotov cocktails had been thrown at his home and caused a fire.

He took pictures of the flames before extinguishing them, he said.

Theema, who lives in the house with his mother and sister, said neither he nor family members had any personal conflicts.

He said his work at BlueSky channel might have upset someone who disliked his criticism of the government, he said.

The anchor of Blue Sky's Fah Talay Jone show confirmed he will continue his work, but will take more precautions.

Metropolitan Police Division 9 deputy chief Phadol Praphanon said an investigation is under way.
