Noppadon Pattama, a legal adviser to Thaksin Shinawatra, has denied as untrue a report that the former prime minister has proposed that his opponents in the political conflict allow an election to be held in return for members of the Shinawatra family taking a break from politics for one year.
He said the possibily of this happening might have been raised for discussion among some people and subsequently became news.
"In fact, this has not been talked about or decided on. What is being talked over now is when will a new election be held," Mr Noppadon said.
Mr Noppadon said this would be clear after a new royal decree on the election has been issued. By that time the party's executive committee would have decided on the candidates under the party list system.
People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) secretary-general Suthep Thaugsuban on Thursday insisted there would not be any talks or bargaining with the caretaker government.
"There will be not be any talks until the country has undergone reform," Mr Suthep said while leading PDRC protesters in a march for the fourth day to seek support for a mass anti-government rally on March 29.
