Capo: PDRC leaders to be indicted

Case report will go to prosecutors May 1

Authorities handling a special case against 80 leaders of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) have finished their investigation and will forward a report recommending their indictment to prosecutors on May 1.

The prosecutors are expected to indict the 80 in the Criminal Court by May 10, according to a statement issued by the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (Capo) on Thursday afternoon.

The 80 suspects wanted under warrants issued by the Criminal Court on rebellion charges include Suthep Thaugsuban, Sathit Wongnongtoey, Chumpol Julasai, Putthipong Punnakant, Issara Somchai, Witthaya Kaewparadai, Thaworn Senneam, Nathapol Teepsuwan, Akanat Promphan, Anchalee Paireerak, Nitithorn Lamlua, Uthai Yodmanee, Thawin Pliensri and Luang Pu Buddha Issara, the statement said.

Capo asked people to exercise discretion in taking information disseminated by the PDRC suspects, who are planning a major rally on April 30 and warned them against taking part in it for they might turn out to be supporters of people who break the law.

Capo is also to ask law enforcement authorities to step up efforts to arrest Mr Suthep and the other suspects. However, they were advised to take care not to risk losses to themselves and the people as  the suspects were well protected by guards who were known to have been armed with lethal weapons, the statement said.
