PDRC visits Thai Tobacco Monopoly

Protesters get warm welcome from TTM staff

Protesters of the People's Democratic Reform Committee arrived at the Thailand Tobacco Monopoly office in Khlong Toey area on Rama 4 road Monday morning to drum up support for the PDRC's planned major rally on April 30 to eradicate the "Thaksin regime".

They gathered in front of the statue of King Rama 6 at Lumpini Park at 10am before marching on foot to the nearby TTM head office about two kilometres away.

Leading the procession were PDRC secretary-general Suthep Thaugsuban and other core members including Sakolthee Phattiyakul.  Leading members of the State Enterprises Labour Relations Confederation (SERC) also joined the march.

They were warmly welcomed by TTM staff.

Mr Sakolthee, who was arrested at Suvarnabhumi airport on returning from abroad on Friday night and later released on bail, said his joining a peaceful activity of the PDRC was not a violation of bail conditions.

The march caused heavy traffic congestion on Rama 4 road.
