Suthep to host talks at Govt House

The anti-government People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) will today relocate its rally site from Lumpini Park to occupy parts of Ratchadamnoen Nok Avenue and Government House.

People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) guards line up in front of a yellow barricade at Government House following Saturday’s talks between PDRC leaders and security forces. The PDRC is allowed to use only the Santi Maitree building for press conferences. The protesters are not allowed to use the Thai Khu Fa building behind the yellow barricade. Patipat Janthong

PDRC leader Suthep Thaugsuban said the PDRC and its allies from the Network of Students and People for Reform of Thailand (NSPRT) and the Dharma Army will now fight together at the same area — Government House.

He had spoken to NSPRT adviser Nitithorn Lamlua and Dharma Army co-leader Samdin Lertbut. They agreed to establish a new main stage in front of the United Nations Building, next to Makkawan Bridge. However, the NSPRT's stage which was based at Government House next to Chaimai Maruchet Bridge for almost six months will remain there.

Led by Mr Suthep, the protesters will start walking to Government House at noon.

Mr Suthep said the PDRC also will hold talks with key figures to solve the conflict, at the Santi Maitree building at Government House, from today onwards. He and his supporters also plan to march to parliament today to inspect the extraordinary Senate meeting being held there.

"I want to see whether the Senate speaker is able to meet our demand to select a new prime minister of the people. If not, we will do it ourselves," said Mr Suthep.
