Former Pheu Thai list MP Nitiphum Naowarat caused a stir when he appeared at the army auditorium in Bangkok on Friday to surrender to the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) in a monk's robes.

Mr Nitiphum also gave his name as Phra Apinitiko.
He arrived at the army auditorium in Thewes area about 11.40am. He presented to the military and to reporters copies of his ordination document issued by Wat Bowon Niwet in Bangkok, confirming his ordination and reason for his previous failure to turn himself in.
The document stated he had been ordained on May 7, 15 days before he was summoned by the NCPO, and he had studied Buddhism in India and Nepal before returning to Thailand on May 22, when the coup was announced. Since his return, he had stayed at Wat Bowon Niwet.
He asked that the NCPO send its representatives to question him at the temple if it wants any further information from him.

Mr Nitiphum was one of many summoned people who turned themselves in to the NCPO on Friday.
The junta demanded on Thursday night that 45 people report in on Friday, most of them red-shirt movement leaders in Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi and other provinces in the North and the Northeast.
