Soldiers grab almost third of cabinet

The Prayuth 1 cabinet line-up is reportedly completed and will be submitted for royal endorsement in the last week of September.

From now until then, the qualifications of the candidates will be checked.

On the economic front, two of the ministers under the 2006 post-coup government are back.

MR Pridiyathorn Devakula, a former deputy prime minister and finance minister, will be deputy prime minister in the new cabinet. Sommai Pasi, the deputy finance minister in the Surayud Chulanont government, will be in charge of the finance portfolio.

A third or 12 of the 36-member cabinet will likely be retired and active military officers, according to reports.

Latest cabinet line-up as of Aug 29, 2014
