A Lamborghini imported illegally into Thailand sold for almost 20 million baht during the Customs Department’s latest auction of 236 seized vehicles in Bangkok.

The cars up for auction included 64 Mercedes Benz models, five Bentleys, 13 Jaguars, 12 Porsches, five Lexuses, two Mini Coopers, one Aston Martin and the Lamborghini.
Customs director-general Somchai Sujjapongse said the auction attracted a good crowd and he expected the department to raise more than 300 million baht for government coffers.
The most-expensive auctioned car was a black 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4, which started with an opening bid of 19.4 million baht and sold at 19.7 million baht.
On July 3, the Customs Department sold 355 seized vehicles in its first auction of the fiscal year, which generated 546 million baht for the state.
Mr Somchai stressed that the auction had been carried out in "a transparent manner" and Thailand's newly appointed finance minister had instructed him to ensure all procedures in the auction were clear, fair and examinable.
