Cabinet approves new NSC chief

Thawil's chosen successor is new National Security Council secretary-general

The cabinet on Wednesday approved the appointment of Anusit Khunakorn, a deputy secretary-general of the National Security Council (NSC), as the new NSC secretary-general, replacing Thawil Pliensri, who has retired, reports said.

Mr Thawil recommended Mr Anusit as his successor prior to his retirement.

Mr Anusit is the most senior of the three NSC deputy chiefs.  He will officially take the post after a royal command is issued to endorse his appointment.
