Yingluck to hear fate on Nov 12

The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) will decide on Nov 12 if it plans to impeach former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

NLA president Pornpetch Wichitcholchai said yesterday a proposal that Ms Yingluck be impeached has been included on a special meeting agenda. The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has accused Ms Yingluck of dereliction of duty for failing to stop losses under the rice-pledging scheme and asked the NLA to impeach her.

The NLA believed it could still go ahead even though the 2007 charter on which the charges were brought had since been overturned. The charges could still be brought under state administration and NACC laws, he said.
