Prayut's wife lauds Thai courses

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha's wife Naraporn praised the Cambodian government on Thursday for choosing Thai as the first Asean foreign language to be taught at the Royal University of Phnom Penh.

Mrs Naraporn, a former Chulalongkorn University professor, is accompanying Gen Prayut on a two-day visit to Cambodia.

After her arrival yesterday, Mrs Naraporn toured the Thai Language Centre at the Royal University of Phnom Penh with Hun Sen's wife, Boon Ranee.

Mrs Naraporn said she was happy to learn that the Thai language has grown in popularity among Cambodian students.

She said learning Thai would broaden students' employment opportunities when the Asean Economic Community is launched next year.
