The university's Faculty of Political Science announced the cancellation of the event, which had been scheduled for Monday, on the Rattarat Rattasat for Ratsadorn Facebook page.

Thai media reported that a group of soldiers and police went to talk with students from the school's Paradoxocracy club about cancelling the event.

The Facebook page on Thursday carried a black and white poster inviting people to participate in the talk entitled "Rights and Freedoms of Thai People in the Perfect Democracy Era". It gave no details about the speakers.

The organisers said the choice of black and white for the notice reflected an era in which thinking is constricted, with freedom of thought under pressure and beautiful colour destroyed, leaving only black and white.

Late Friday afternoon, the same notice was posted with "Censored” in red on top of it.
