Anti-NCPO leaflets condemned

The National Council for Peace and Order on Sunday condemned those responsible for the distribution of anti-NCPO leaflets as being unconstructive and biased against it.

NCPO spokesman Winthai Suwaree was referring to leaftets - issued in many forms and bearing different messages - which were distributed on Sunday morning in front of the Sorn Daeng restaurant and around the Democracy Monument on Ratchadamnoen Avenue.

The messages in the leaflets accused the NCPO of threatening the people and the mass media, infringing on the rights and freedom of the people and acting as a tyrant.

Col Winthai said the leafllets were produced by people who were apparently emotional and biased against the NCPO because the messages contained false accusations and distortions.

The leaflets not only caused an eyesore but also were of no use to society, he said.

"It is understandable that people still hold different views and want to express their opinion in various forms. But they should be responsible to the people. We believe the majority of people want the country to develop and move forward - with help from the people of all sectors.

"There are more appropriate ways of expressing opinions," Col Winthai said.
