First four reform forums on Dec 29

The first four of the planned 4,268 forums to gather opinions on reform from the public will open on Dec 29 in four provinces, Lt Gen Boontham Oris, deputy director of the Reconciliation Centre for Reform (RCR), said on Wednesday.

Lt Gen Boontham said the RCR has been provided with 320.5 milion baht to organise activites under the "Thai People with One Heart" project between December and Septembr next year throughout the country.

The activities include the 4,268 forums to take people's opinions on reform.  The forums are to be held by local administrations, educational institutes and occupational groups.

The first four opinion forums will be held on Dec 29 in four provinces - Nakhon Ratchasima in the Northeast, Lop Buri in the Central area, Chiang Mai in the North and Nakhon Si Thammarat in the South.

Soldiers will not be present at the forums to give any instructions or guidelines, so the public will be able to freely express their opinions, Lt Gen Boontham said.
