Kittiratt, 310 ex-MPs cases dropped

The National Anti-Corruption Commission has dismissed two cases filed against former finance minister Kittiratt Na Ranong and 310 former MPs.

The NACC reported the dismissal of the two cases to the National Legislative Assembly and NLA chairman Pornpetch Wichitcholachai informed the assembly of it on Thursday.

In the first case, a petition was filed by a number of former lawmakers seeking the removal of Mr Kittirat as finance minister, accusing him of abuse of power in violation of the National Savings Fund Act of 2011.

The NACC dismissed the petition after finding no grounds to support the accusation.

The second case, also filed by former opposition lawmakers and senators, sought to remove the 310 former MPs for alleged misuse of power by voting to pass an amnesty bill in a third reading in violation of the 2007 constitution.

The NACC dismissed the case for the reason that since the 2007 constitution has been abolished, there are no grounds to remove retroactively the 310 from their positions.
