Pol Maj Gen Chatcharin Sawangwong, the Suphan Buri provincial police commander, has been abruptly transferred to an inactive post at the operations centre of the Region 7 Provincial Police Bureau after he ordered 28 newly promoted officers under his command to call on former prime minister Banharn Silpa-archa to take his advice, reports said.
The lightning transfer order was issued on Jan 25 and signed by Pol Lt Gen Veerapong Chuenpakdi, commissioner of the Region 7 Provincial Police Bureau.
Pol Maj Gen Chatcharin has been removed from the post of Suphan Buri police commander and is to remain at the Region 7 Provincial Police headquarters until further notice.
The reports said the abrupt transfer came after Pol Maj-Gen Chatcharin issued an urgent order dated Jan 25 for 28 newly promoted police officers under him to call on Mr Banharn on Jan 27 at 8am for advice.
Shortly after that Pol Maj Gen Chatcharin issued a most urgent order to cancel the previous order on the grounds that the situation was still unfavourable for such a show of respect to Mr Banharn.
