Chaturon to report to 1st Army

Chaturon Chaisaeng, a former deputy prime minister in the Yingluck Shinawatra government, will report to the 1st Army for "talks" on Thursday afternoon.

"Late this morning a military officer called me on the telephone, telling me that he was assigned by his commander to invite me to report to the 1st Army for talks at 3pm.

"I accepted the invitation and will be there before 3pm," Mr Chaturon posted on his Facebook page.

Mr Chaturon said he did not know what issue would be raised at the meeting.

"No matter what, I think the talk will be useful, particularly at a time when opinions from all concerned are necessary for solving the country's problems and deciding various rules and regulations.

"I am glad to listen to the opinions of other people, including government officials, and willing to give my suggestions, which may be useful to the majority," he wrote.

Mr Chaturon earlier posted his message on Facebook critical of the National Legislative Assembly for proceeding with an impeachment motion against former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra over her government's rice-pledging programme.

The 1st Army earlier invited former Pheu Thai MP Singthong Buachum and former foreign minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul in for talks after the two commented about the impeachment decision.
