Military attaches to be briefed

The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) will invite military attaches from all countries posted in Thailand for a briefing at the army headquarters on Wednesday, an army source said.

The invitation will be sent to the military attaches by the army's intelligence department. The attaches will be given an explanation of the scope of work of the NCPO.

Lt Gen Supakorn Sanguanchartsorakrai, the deputy army chief-of-staff, will preside over the briefing session.

The source said the military attaches will be mainly briefed on the National Legislative Assembly's impeachment of former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra over the rice-pledging scheme; the NCPO's rejection of her request to travel abroad; the bombings in front of Siam Paragon shopping mall and the arrest of bomb suspects; the fake Royal Household Bureau statement on His Majesty the King's health; the invitation for some people including politicians and academics to report to military officials; and the necessity to retain martial law.
