NLA endorses cut to ex-MPs' salary

National Legislative Assembly president Pornpetch Wichitcholchai has endorsed a set of revised regulations to cut the benefits of former lawmakers under the Fund for Former Parliamentarians Act.

The revised regulations will cut the monthly salary of former lawmakers. The monthly stipend for former legislators under the old regulations starts at 15,000 baht.

Under the new rate, those who served from one to 48 months receive a monthly salary of 9,000 baht; those who served more than 48 but not exceeding 96 months receive 12,000 baht; and those who worked for up to 144 months receive 14,300 baht.

Former lawmakers who served up to 192 months receive 17,800 baht; those who worked up to 240 months receive 21,400 baht; those who served up to 288 months receive 28,500 baht; and those who worked more than 288 months receive 35,600 baht.
