A panel on lese majeste cases has trimmed the number of arrest warrants for extradition to 30 from 40.
All of the warrants have already been issued and another one is being sought, Justice Minister Paiboon Koomchaya said after the panel's meeting on Friday.
Anake Chaichana, also known as Anake San Fran, a man accused of financing post-coup Bangkok bombings, is also on the list. His extradition from the United States will be sought for terrorism offence.
"The government wants these people for trial in Thailand. Although the Foreign Affairs Ministry encounters resistance in some countries, we try to explain to them these cases are not libel or political, but concern national security that affects all Thai people," Gen Paiboon said.
He added investigation and suppression would be easier from now on since all local sim cards had been registered. This also allows the National Intelligence Agency to get a more accurate picture of each group's activity and to set its targets.
"Thanks to our serious efforts, the number of blocked websites has doubled," he said.
Among the 30 people who fled abroad after the May 2014 coup and are now wanted under arrest warrants are:
- Ekkapop Luara, also known as Tang Archeewa (New Zealand)
- Chatwadee "Rose" Amornpat (Europe)
- Wutthipong "Ko Tee" Kochthammakhun, a red-shirt leader (a neighbouring country)
- Saran Chuichai or Aum Neko (Europe)
- Charupong Ruangsuwan, a former interior minister and Pheu Thai party leader, who is now secretary general of the Free Thailand Movement (FT-HD) (Europe)
- Jakrapob Penkair, executive secretary of FT-HD (Europe)
- Sunai Jullapongsathon, a former Pheu Thai MP (Europe)
