The prime minister on Tuesday refused to react to the remarks by Thaksin, who said on the sidelines of the 6th Asian Leadership Conference in Seoul that the performance of the government was "not so impressive" after one year.

"Let him talk. I don't think that's important,'' Gen Prayut said. "I will not react and will let my performance do the talking."

Thaksin was invited to join former and present government and business leaders to the annual forum in South Korea. Others included Jack Ma, founder and executive chairman of Alibaba Group.

Thaksin wrote on his Twitter account that the Alibaba founder had invited him to visit Hangzhou.

"I've talked to Jack Ma. He came to say hello and said 'everybody says you and I are look alike,'" he added.

The man behind the success of Alibaba was born in Hangzhou in Zhejiang province.
