The Supreme Court's Election Cases Division on Tuesday imposed a five-year political ban on satellite-TV personality Leena Jangjanja for violating election rules while competing in the March 30, 2014 senate election.

The Election Commission, which took the case to court, accused the celebrity better known as Leena Jung of breaching the Election Act by erecting campaign posters across Bangkok containing unlawful language, including "Bring back PTT for Thai people. Use petrol 20 baht per litre" and "Dissolve Oil Fund. Thais will use petrol 20 baht per litre".

The posters bore her name and number as a Bangkok senatorial candidate.

The court judge found Leena, who also previously ran for Bangkok governor, guilty as charged and banned her from politics for five years. It said the messages on the campaign materials were policies to be set and stated by government agencies and political parties, not individual senate candidates.

The messages, the court ruled, were intended to woo voters and violated election law.

Leena did not appear to hear the court's ruling.
