Thaksin adds passport pages and goes

No Thai passports? No problem if you're Thaksin Shinawatra.

The former prime minister was in Montenegro to renew his passport as it was running out of pages, his daughter Paetongtran wrote on her Instagram account, @ingshin21, on Saturday.

The additional pages of his Montenegrin passport were needed as he was preparing to make another trip to Germany, she added.

Thaksin, who also holds Montenegrin citizenship, was in Berlin, according to his Instagram page, @thaksinlive, posted later on Saturday.

The former premier fled the country in 2008 before he was to be sentenced on corruption charges, and his Thai regular and diplomatic passports were revoked shortly afterward. He is also believed to hold a Nicaraguan passport.

Thaksin's last trip to Asia to attend the 6th Asian Leadership Conference in Seoul from May 19-20 ended with his two Thai passports being revoked by the Foreign Ministry on May 26.

The decision came after the former prime minister dropped a political bombshell in a television interview on the sidelines of the conference, accusing privy councellors behind the military coup that ousted the government led by his sister Yingluck Shinawatra last year.

The National Anti-Corruption Commission is now considering action against former foreign minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul, who issued new passports to Thaksin in 2011, and against Ms Yingluck.
