Three law students from Khon Kaen University, a male and two females, were detained and taken by police and soldiers to Sripatcharin military camp for questioning on Friday, but released about three hours later.
The students -- Kwanhathai Pathumthavornsakul, Jiratchaya Harnnarong and Krit Saengsuri -- were reportedly stopped while on their lay the portraits of seven fellow students of the Dao Din Group of Khon Kaen University at the democracy monument in Khon Kaen on Friday afternoon, in a show of support for them.
The three students were taken to nearby Sripatcharin military camp for questioning about 1.30pm.
They were released about 4.15pm.
The seven Dao Din members -- Chatupat Boonyapatraksa, Apiwat Suntararak, Payu Boonsopon, Panupong Srithananuwat, Suvicha Tipangkorn, Supachai Pukrongploy and Wasant Satesit -- were arrested on May 22, the first anniversary of the military coup, during a protest at the democracy monument in downtown Khon Kaen.
They were charged under a National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) order banning political gatherings of more than five people.
The seven students were released on bail twice after their arrest. They were due to report to Muang district police on Friday, June 19, for further judicial proceedings.
On Friday morning, about 100 police and soldiers were deployed outside the police station when the seven students turned up to report.
