Sudarat will not join NCPO, aide says

An aide of Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan dismissed rumours the Pheu Thai Party key figure might work with the National Council for Peace and Order in the near future, saying such a thing would be impossible.

The denial came after Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha name-dropped the veteran politician and former minister in the Thaksin Shinnawatra government at a wedding over the weekend.

Udomdej Rattanasatian, former Pheu Thai MP for Nonthaburi, said he had talked with Khunying Sudarat over speculation that she may have received an invitation to become an adviser to the NCPO. He said Khunying Sudarat was not interested in returning to politics and is still committed to contributing to Buddhism through various religious projects.

"The possibility of her working with the NCPO is impossible," Mr Udomdej confirmed.

At the wedding for a son of Somkid Jatusripitak, an economic adviser to the National Council for Peace and Order, Gen Prayut urged the many veteran politicians attending to contribute to the country and future generations.

"Mr Somkid has served as an economic adviser to the cabinet and me directly. We work together and teamwork helps me," Gen Prayut said.  "As well, Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan who attended the event today and whom I have known for a long time since I was a major."
