Education is at the top of issues which should undergo reform, followed by politics, the judicial system, police and the bureaucracy, according to an opinion survey by National Institute of Development Administration, or Nida Poll, published on Sunday.

The poll was carried out on Nov 23-24 on 1,284 people aged 18 and over throughout the country.

Asked what issues should undergo reform, the highest number of respondents mentioned education (57.17%), followed by politics (52.49%), judicial system (38.32%), the bureaucracy (34.66%), social disparity (15.03%), public health services (13.40%), natural resources and environment (11.45%) and energy (5.45%).

Asked what should be reformed in the field of education, the respondents pointed to teachers (29.13%), curriculum (22.59%), teaching aids (17.76%), student behaviour (16.28%) and education management (11.91%).

On what should be reformed in the field of politics, the respondents pointed to quality of politicians (44.08%), elections (24.77%), the executive branch's use of power (15.03%), political parties (6.54%) and impeachment of political post holders (4.36%).

Regarding police, the respondents said there should be reforms of law enforcement (35.59%), power distribution (19.24%), investigation (18.07%) and appointment and promotion criteria (11.99%).

On bureaucratic reform, the respondents said it should emphasise corruption (50.08%), public services (26.17%), buying and selling of positions (12.38%), budgetary system (5.22%) and salaries and welfares (3.43%).
