Despite being detained by the military for trying to visit scandal-hit Rajabhakti Park, red-shirt leader Jatuporn Prompan said on Tuesday he remained free and vowed to continue speaking out.

Mr Jatuporn and fellow red-shirt leader Nattawut Saikuar reportedly signed an agreement with the army Monday night governing their future conduct after they were stopped from leading followers to the royal park in Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

On Tuesday, Mr Jatuporn said on his Peace TV programme that the agreement was the same as a previous pact he had made on May 22, 2014 -- the date of the military coup --  and there was nothing new.

"I assure that I still have the same freedom as before and will talk as usual," said the chairman of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD).

He also said that his detention on Monday did not rattle him and he was only travelling to Rajabhakti as a private citizen, not on behalf of the UDD.

Officers treated him well throughout his detention, Mr Jatuporn said.

He disagreed with the Defence Ministry's investigation into alleged irregularities in the army's billion-baht Hua Hin project.

It was not right to assign a subordinate to investigate a superior, he said, referring to the Defence Ministry's investigative committee headed by Gen Chaicharn Changmongkol, deputy permanent secretary for defence. Deputy Defence Minister Udomdej Sitabutr initiated the project during his tenure as army chief.

Mr Jatuporn said that his doubts over Rajabhakti remained and that he would not mind if anyone suspected his travel to the park and the arrest on Monday had been plotted earlier to shame the National Council for Peace and Order.
