The United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship has issued a letter to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, chairman of the National Council for Peace and Order, asking for an end to acts of intimidation, which infringe on the rights and liberties of the people.

The letter was filed at the Government House public service centre on Thursday by Tida Thavornseth, a former UDD chair, and other UDD core members including Veerakarn Musikhapong and Weng Tojirakarn.

Ms Tida also posted the letter on her Facebook page on Dec 3.

The letter said that since the May 22, 2014 coup the situation in the country had been generally normal under the supervision of the NCPO.

However, when a scandal erupted over the Rajabhakti Park project in Prachuap Khiri Khan province, it was only normal that society wanted to know facts about it.

Like other people, UDD key members Jatuporn Prompan and Nattawut Saikuar planned a fact-finding trip to the park, but were arrested by the military while on the way.

Since their release, the intimidation directed at them had escalated, particularly on Mr Nattawut and his family.  Mr Nattawut's house had been under surveillance and his wife was followed while taking their daughter to school by soldiers who also took pictures of them.

Such acts of initimidation should not happen anyone, not only Mr Jatuporn and Mr Nattawut.

"We would like the NCPO chairman to stop these acts of intimidation," the letter said.
