Most believe NCPO has no plan to retain power - Poll

Most of the people do not believe the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) plans to stay in power after the election tentatively set for mid-2017, according to an opinion survey by the National Institute of Development Administration, or Nida Poll.

On the question of whether they believe a report that the NCPO will stay in power after the election, 32.88% of respondents said they did not, and 17.76% said they doubted it; 17.2% said they had a fair belief in the report and 14.72% said they strongly believed it. The remainder were not certain or had no comment.

Asked whether they were worried by the report, 57.6% said they were not; 17.68% were a little worried; 12.48% were rather worried; 8.56% were very worried; and the rest were uncertain or had no comment.

Asked about their confidence in the NCPO's road map to hold an election in mid-2017, 24.4% said they had high confidence and 26.24% had fair confidence; 20.56% had little confidence and 13.36% had zero or no confidence; and the rest were uncertain or had no answer.

The poll was conducted on March 1-2 on 1,250 people aged 18 and over throughout the country.
