Most people undecided over draft charter

Most people are still undecided on which way they will vote for the draft constitution in the Aug 7 referendum, according to the result of a survey by National Institute for Development Administration, or Nida Poll.

The poll was conducted on April 25-26 on 1,500 people aged 18 and over of various levels of education and occupations to ask about their decision on the charter referendum and their opinion on a proposal for senators joining the House of Representatives in the vote to elect the prime minister during the five-year transitional period.

The standard error is plus or minus 1.3.

When asked about their decision on the draft charter, 38.2% said they were still undecided; 35.87% said they would vote for it; 14% said they would go to the referendum but would not vote either "yes" or "no"; and, 11.93% said they would vote against it.

On the proposal for the Senate to join the House of Representatives in the vote to elect the prime minister during the five-year transition, 38.2% said they would vote for it; 29.4% were undecided; 26.27% said they would vote against it; and,6.13% said they would not vote either "yes" or "no".
