Most people still undecided over draft charter - Poll

Most people are still undecided whether to vote for or against the draft constitution in the Aug 7 referendum, according to the result of a third survey by National Institute for Development Administration, or Nida Poll, on the charter referendum.

The poll was conducted on on 1,500 people aged 18 and over of all levels of education and various occupations throughout the country.

Asked whether they will vote to accept or reject the draft charter, most of the respondents, 39.53% said they were still undecided; 32.07% said they would vote for it; 19.73% would go to the referendum but would not vote for or against it; and, 8.67% said they would vote against it.

To the question about a proposal for the appointed senators, during the five-year transitional period, to be able to join in a vote with the House of Representatives to elect the prime minister, most of the respondents, 38.47% said they were still undecided; 29.20% said they would vote for it; 21.93% would vote against it; and, 10.40% said they would not vote for or against it.
