The plague of teenagers on motorbikes snatching belongings from tourists and fleeing into the night had at least one set back when police, alerted by pedestrians on Second Road, radioed officers on North Pattaya Road to watch for three motorbikes. The cops stopped three motorbikes driven by youths who had equally young girls riding as pillion passengers. Police accused the youngsters of attempting to snatch jewelry from tourists, but found no incriminating evidence. One of the suspects, 16-year-old Nhoi, said it was just a lark and they weren’t doing anything too serious. He claimed he had reached out from his motorbike to greet a friend–not to snatch anything from a stranger. Nevertheless, police confiscated three motorbikes and allowed the teenagers to go without charge.
