The Hua Hin Municipality is celebrating Founding Day on 1st October 2013 with Buddhist ceremonies and festive activities throughout the day.
The highlight of the festive activities is a Buddhist ceremony paying respect to the Bramah shrine in front of the Municipality building early in the morning. Nine Buddhist monks will pray for deceased municipal committee members and council members before municipal staff offer lunch to the monks.
The Mayor of Hua Hin Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul said that the Hua Hin Municipality was established on 1st October 1937 as a governmental office responsible for providing public and urban services for the Hua Hin District, Nong Kae District, Hua Hin Sub-District and Pranburi District in Prachuab Khirikhan before being upgraded as municipal districts. Hua Hin was then was then the Hua Hin Municipal District and officially declared in the National Gazette of Thailand. The National Gazette then ordered transfer of rights, authority and responsibility belonging to an administrative council for the western coastline of Thailand to the newly established Hua Hin Municipality.
