PATTANI - An elderly grocer seriously wounded in Tuesday night's hotel bombings has died, lifting the death toll to two, with total damage now estimated at 30 million baht.
Khomsan Kudedakeng, 64, died from uncontrolled haemorrhaging at Pattani Hospital in Muang Pattani district on Thursday night.
He was among five seriously wounded victims of the double bombing, which killed one person and injured 40 others, at the Southern View Hotel in the central district of the southern border province late on Tuesday night.
The first death was a 35-year-old female employee of a nearby restaurant, who died in the blast.
Relatives of the Muslim man took his body for burial in Ban Khuan Din village of tambon Bo Thong in Nong Chik district, Pattani, on Friday morning.
Arun Thongkhao, disaster relief chief of Pattani, said on Friday his unit already paid more than 700,000 baht in compensation to the victims or their families.
This afternoon it would distribute 6.44 million baht to 37 people whose properties were damaged, and would also receive complaints from other affected parties in front of the bombed hotel in Muang Pattani district.
"The bombings damaged 68 properties and the damage is estimated at 30 million baht. The rehabilitation centre of Pattani will quickly hand financial aid," he said.
