Airports of Thailand Plc has stepped up security measures at all six airports under it supervision, said president Nitinai Sirismatthakarn.
The move was in response to police chief Chakthip Chaijinda's instruction for all state agencies to watch for possible acts of sabotage and bombings of symbolic government installations and popular tourist attractions.
The airports are Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Mae Fa Luang in Chiang Rai province and Hat Yai in Songkhla.
The security measures include information collation, situation assessment, security patrols, security checks of passengers' belongings and luggage, random scanning for explosives, strict inspection of passes for individuals and vehicles, and 24-hour surveillances by closed-circuit television cameras.
AoT has also closely coordinated with the National Security Council, special branch and local police regarding intelligence.
Mr Nitinai called for passengers to cooperate by complying with security measures imposed at all airports.
